subworld prototype

subworld was my attempt to create a better virtual meeting experience during the 2020 pandemic by mixing a first person video game and a traditional video call. When participants visited a subworld website, they entered a shared virtual 3d world which they could explore and interact with. Other participants were visible as avatars in the world, with their web camera feeds displayed on their heads. By positioning participants in 3d space, the sense of immersion was greatly increased compared to a standard video conference call.
